my experience would say that elders are not able to handle social problems that arise. Many have no education and rely on their own gut feeling on what to do in some circumstances which oftens include their background knowledge or influence before they converted. So what they say may be wrong or hurtful and could lead to more problems.

Why do JWs go to elders instead of the police?

like their appointed king, christ jesus, they want to help those who have been 'thrown about.
' (matthew 9:36) and they desire to assist others who have been damaged by the winds of false teaching.

i was when i was 15. since i wasnt baptised they put me on it. me and several young brothers were caught smoking weed at the district assembly in s.f. they sat us all in the room and made two of my friends cry. it lasted for about six months. it didnt effect me at all, i never had privilages and my friends came over to skateboard with me anyways. just to let you know we are in our thirties now and none of them are no longer members, i was the last.

by the mole inif any one has been a regular such as i have in the silent lambs site you will have noticed it has changed for the worse..as of last week i decided to withdraw from my membership...the site was designed by bill to vent, explain and devulge abuse that we have witnessed or experienced..as in my case as a former m.s i had seen two coverups in my hall...the parents to afraid to go to the police and the elders screaming jehovah will leave them if they tell on the org is the crime i had to bare with..so i spoke up and left the org...silent lambs was for that reason...now.
it has mutated to a cheap lowlevel site for apologist and non witness who want to argue on unrelated topics..to top it off bill has given the site to an editor who is so silly and more involved than the participants why bother anymore....to bill..you lost your way...

thanks avishai for your good efforts. i had more than 2100 hits and more emails than i could imagine. i hope many of you including you avishai read my post for the last several years in sl site and you will see one theme, to speak out and stand up for what is right. i never knew i had so many who enjoyed my post in the sl site. next month i will put together another update. i have more info on another scandal in my hall. im not a regular but my friends and family sure like to talk to me. my library is the biggest that i know of in sacramento and they always come to me when they want to look at an old book. my last reponse to this thread. time to move on. the mole

wow awsome post. alot of hits. thanks all of you. my point was made. sometimes a single voice does matter. i was informed that the editor of sl will make changes and will not acknowledge those who wish to pollute the site. to some of you who took it personal, why? unless you know abuse, seen abuse, and witnessed the conduct of those in charge in the hall this should have been a learning experience. to those of you who understood and sent me one on one emails, thank you for your support. oh yes...there have been time when me and my family were eating at a restaraunt and they looked us and treated as if we had the plague. my family are several generation involved will not contact me. i spoke of things to them that they didnt want to hear and have practiced to ignore...good luck, it was tough for me and my children for the first year but made new friends and it all good now..the mole

great to see all the post...the sl website has degraded and anybody who knows my call name knows that i started posting when silent lambs began and posted the issues in my hall..to all of you who doesnt know that, sorry be your ill informed...candidlynuts you are right...it seem that the most post on this thread was rev malk..nothing postive or upbuiding just alot of post....i have been in contact by email with bill in the past and he is aware of the abuse that i reported and the info submitted to the police. But if the parents are to afraid nothing can be done to expose the harm done to the children...the young boy now 14 is talking about it and more than likely will approach the police in the near future....but to the website which is the topic and nothing more, many drifted. it has degraded and the new editor should be removed...

I just finished Crisis of Conscience...

parts of the book have been talked about on the board before, but holy $#!+...seeing page upon page of evidence kept my jaw in a constant drop.... a few thoughts.... >franz seems to have little malice for the org, and it shows in the book.. >i looked at it with a very skeptical eye (as i do everything) and tried to see it from the perspective of a witness who sincerely believed.
i was still floored by the callousness of the comments of these people.. > control really does seem to be the watchword for these folks, and they've trained the rank and file well.

how sad thay my generation suffered and many df'd because of wanting to go to college..when i grad in 1983 it was a horrible thing to go to college.. i remember talks given that told us to drop out of high school to preach..when i decided to go a jr. college and get voc skills the elders in my hall in north sacramento said to me and my parents that i was rebelling against gods word..when they found out i was taking karate classes they said i was practicing an evil religion...when i grad for CSUS they removed me from my privilages in 1992...now its ok? how disturbing this org is..
